Hardbopjazz Posted March 7, 2020 Report Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) Pat hasn’t been able to play since 2018 due to health issues. Go Fund me page. It doesn’t look good for another legend. https://www.gofundme.com/f/pat-martino-fund?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet Edited November 1, 2021 by Hardbopjazz Quote

Rabshakeh Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 I'm seeing some references to Pat Martino today that suggest that be may have sadly passed away. Very sad. I always enjoyed his playing. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 I believe that the above is true, unfortunately. Quote

mjazzg Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 Damn. Loved his early albums and the comeback ones too. Quote
sgcim Posted November 1, 2021 Report Posted November 1, 2021 Oh God, he seemed indestructible. RIP, to one of the greats of all time. Quote
JSngry Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Helluva journey. RIP and thanks for playing. Quote
HutchFan Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Terrible news. R.I.P. to a wonderful guitartist and musician. Quote

GA Russell Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 RIP. He was a favorite of mine in his Prestige days. Quote
mikeweil Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 RIP. I was not a fan but really like his playing on Don Patterson's albums, he was the best of all guitarists that recorded with Patterson. Quote
sidewinder Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Very sad news. Great player, fortunate enough to see him at least 3-4 times and he kindly signed some of his albums for me in exquisite script. The last time I saw him was at NorthSea I think with his trio but also around that time I attended a viewing of his biographical film focussing on the illness, where he was present in person to answer questions. That was a medically sponsored event by the Welcome Foundation. Fond memories of seeing him in prime at Ronnie Scott’s. RIP - sorry that he is no longer with us but thankful that he had that illustrious second career. Edited November 2, 2021 by sidewinder Quote
BillF Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 Yes, sad news. Saw him once - about 6 years ago at Band on the Wall, Manchester in a great trio with Pat Bianchi and Carmen Intorre. Quote

Milestones Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 To say the least, he had an interesting life and career. And the man really had some chops. I've heard plenty of good stuff, and would like to hear more--especially from the early years. In the later career, for me nothing tops Live at Yoshi's. R.I.P. Pat Quote
tranemonk Posted November 2, 2021 Report Posted November 2, 2021 This one sucks to me... I was lucky enough to see him a few times (maybe twice?)... Love all his records... His comeback was incredible... I hate this stuff... Thank you Pat... Quote
