The derivation of the record is interesting to ponder. Could you bring in a wire recording (I assume that's what it was originally) and come back a week later to pick up your acetate? And how is it in such great condition? And on what basis is it a 33 1/3 recording?

Newman's was a disc recorder, not a wire recorder. He used large discs and recorded at 33 rpm (machines had that option). That's why his recordings were longer than the usual 3.5 min of the time.

And that weird clownhead logo is the same used on the early Esoteric LPs, so this item sure seems like it would have a Jerry Newman provenance. And since it's Monk...this may or may not have seen commercial release.
