JSngry Posted December 20, 2019 Report Posted December 20, 2019 Can't wait to read this, when will it be out? Quote
Ken Dryden Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 That book has been available for some time... Quote
JSngry Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 So the book is out now, too? The same book? Quote

JSngry Posted December 21, 2019 Report Posted December 21, 2019 I think I might want to hold on to my OG copy of the Get Real Book. Quote

Peter Friedman Posted December 24, 2019 Report Posted December 24, 2019 Read this book long ago. Very detailed and well worth reading for Monk fans. Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) I hope they address the influence of Raymond Scott's "Powerhouse" on "Epistrophy." Too many sloppy researchers have overlooked this connection. Edited December 31, 2019 by Teasing the Korean Quote
Gheorghe Posted December 31, 2019 Report Posted December 31, 2019 I was a bit astonished that some didn´t know about this book. I also got it as soon as it was published. It´s really very detailed and for example: I didn´t know nothing about Monk´s live in later years, didn´t know why he had stopped playing etc. and the book reveals a lot about Monk´s private live...... I'm sure "Powerhouse" was an influence, but I have no direct proof, though. Quote
jlhoots Posted January 5, 2020 Report Posted January 5, 2020 Sounds like a Bill Maher routine - "I don't have any proof, but I just know it's so". Quote
