Pim Posted May 17, 2020 Report Posted May 17, 2020 Nice to see that Waldron out on cd. It’s a great session. Also that McBee really needed a cd reissue. I’ve got the German Enja version which goes for 40 euros on Discogs. Quote

I have the original Enja LP issue of Compassion. It sounds really good -- even to my 52-year-old, not-nearly-as-sensitive-as-they-used-to-be ears. OTOH, my Music from the Source LP is the U.S. licensed Inner City version. It's nowhere close to the Enja Compassion vinyl. Not even in the same ballpark, audio-quality-wise. I guess that's not surprising. German and/or Dutch pressings usually sound better. Edited June 11, 2020 by HutchFan Quote
Harbour Posted August 15, 2020 Author Report Posted August 15, 2020 next batch due in Oct, some more first time on CD like the Terumasa Hino, Peter Warren one https://merurido.jp/topic.php?srcbnr=43143 Quote

I look forward to the Hino! Other good titles on there also that I already have (Lasha, Hubbard, Henderson, Waldron at first glance). Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 15, 2020 Report Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) That might be one of the last 5-6 dates with (or by) T. Hino (specifically pre-1978), that I don’t yet have on CD. I’ve really gone crazy buying Hino titles over the last 4-5 years. I think I’ve got a little over 25 titles (maybe almost 30?), iirc. (That’s incl. sideman appearances). One more I’ll have to pick up soon-ish too. Edited August 15, 2020 by Rooster_Ties Quote
ejp626 Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 It does appear that there is a bit of a sale on at Record Store Merurido, but I am just not able to navigate the menus even with Google Translate. I gave up and migrated to Amazon.co.jp where they had a few copies of Waldon's A Touch of the Blues left. In the process of doing all this, I found out that Waldron's What It Is is available for pre-order (shipping on or around Jan 27), so I decided to get that as well. Kind of an expensive day, but that's sort of par for the course around here... I assume there will be another large batch coming out at the same time, but I promised myself not to even look... Quote
bertrand Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 Is it still possible to get the Dolphy Berlin concerts somewhere, or did I blow that? Quote

A Touch of the Blues showed up crazy fast - it was mailed out on the 26! I'm a little sorry I didn't add another CD or two to see about combined shipping, though my wallet thanks me for my restraint... Anyway, I'll be checking this out this afternoon. Quote
barnaba.siegel Posted January 25, 2021 Report Posted January 25, 2021 Not that one looks interesting: Bill Evans, Bobby Hutcherson, Karin Krog, Archie Shepp – Live At The Festival. A 1970-1973 material from Ljubljana Jazz Festiva in Slovenia. Second CD issue ever, the last track looks like an 18-minutes fiesta with Bobby Hutcherson & Harold Land band. https://www.discogs.com/Bill-Evans-Bobby-Hutcherson-Karin-Krog-Archie-Shepp-Live-At-The-Festival/release/17097387 Quote

Hah i just ordered this not realising i already had that track on that compilation, it really is a great version of The Creators, totally different to the version on Now! Would love to hear more from that set. The version of Nardis on this album is excellent too so still glad i bought this. Quote

Agreed, the whole album is really good, including the two shorter (but not short) tracks by Archie Shepp and Karin Krog. Quote
barnaba.siegel Posted January 26, 2021 Report Posted January 26, 2021 Thanks @Rooster_Ties - I guess I'll order this Enja CD, as the rest of the material looks also fine. Too bad it's still separate tracks. I bet there is more in the archives. btw - I see there is also second track of Hutchers-Land band on this LP https://www.discogs.com/Various-11-Mednarodni-International-Jazz-Festival-Ljubljana-70/release/3293852 Quote
