Olie Brice Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 The new album by Somersaults,'Numerology of Birdsong', comes out today on my new label West Hill Records. Wasn't sure if this is too close to advertising for this site, but several of you supported our previous album so wanted to let you know It's on Bandcamp (CD and download) and SquidCo have copies in the US https://westhill.bandcamp.com/album/somersaults-numerology-of-birdsong Tobias Delius - tenor, clarinet Olie Brice - double bass Mark Sanders - drums "This is a great album, full of interest, differing tones, hues and colours" - Free Jazz Blog Quote
mjazzg Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 I'm more than happy to be advertised to. I was listening to the first album a few days ago, prompted by the FreeJazz review. Order made. Looking forward to hearing it. Quote

Д.Д. Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 Thanks, will definitely check this one out. Delius is such a great player. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted September 10, 2019 Report Posted September 10, 2019 Having trouble finding it at Squidco. I really want to get both of these recordings. love Delius & Sanders. I’m not as familiar with your playing, Olie. Quote

By both recordings do you mean the two by this trio? if you order two copies from the bandcamp link above I'll recognise your name and replace one of the copies with the first album. The postage is only 50p more for two copies. Thanks for your interest - I love Toby and Mark too! SquidCo definitely have copies of the new one so if you'd rather go through them it should be on their site very soon, but they haven't got copies of the earlier album Edited September 10, 2019 by Olie Brice Quote

Right now the currency exchange not working so good. YES - if you see my order for TWO copies of the brand new one, please replace one of those with the first CD from your trio. Quote

Steve check out Olie's playing with the Riverloam Trio. I think that will be right up your street. https://www.discogs.com/Miko%C5%82aj-Trzaska-Olie-Brice-Mark-Sanders-Riverloam-Trio/release/3877844 https://www.discogs.com/artist/3817910-Riverloam-Trio Also see if you can hear 'Immune to Clockwork'. Excellent but maybe less up your street. I'm guessing here from what I've read you enjoy, obviously https://www.discogs.com/Olie-Brice-Quintet-Immune-To-Clockwork/release/7231714 Quote

Venue looks cool and the Southside is up and coming according to my daughter a recent graduate from GU. Your concert is on the 2nd October. Don’t want to miss your own gig! Looking forward to the new release even if I can’t make it to the Glad Cafe. Quote
Olie Brice Posted September 11, 2019 Author Report Posted September 11, 2019 yes, definitely the 2nd, whoops! thanks for pointing that out. it's a really nice venue, Glasgow seems to be having a real surge in this sort of music, I hear good things about the Old Hairdressers as well, and the Counterflows festival looks great Quote
Clunky Posted October 16, 2019 Report Posted October 16, 2019 I managed to mislay my copy ( unopened ) when it arrived several weeks ago. It’s now been found and currently playing. Comfortably lives up to expectations. I’ll need to listen several times through before going back to the first disc. Quote
