Randy has announced his father's passing on Facebook.

He was a fine tenor player and a really good guy. Ann and I are pleased to have known him.

The new Mosaic Woody Herman set will feature some examples.

My favorite remains something I snagged from right here,  Arno sitting in with Organissimo on Blue Lake radio. Streaming real audio files might not be the greatest fidelity but a great performance all around.

My condolences to Randy and everyone else in his family.  I met Randy 3 or so years ago when my sons and I attended an Organissimo concert at the Grand Rapids Jazz Festival.  He was hosting a jam session at a local venue afterwards.  Great guy.

Having just lost my father, I have great empathy for what he's going through.
