Jazzmoose Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 Well, that's one problem I've eliminated with my new setup. I don't need to worry about what label to apply to the music. Heck, make that the CD, as Firesign Theater and Lord Buckley are in there. One of the best things I ever did for enjoying newer stuff is to short circuit that "is it jazz?" question in my head and just enjoy the music. This helps. But it still doesn't help the new Van Morrison disc... Quote
wesbed Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 i wish i knew where to file my Jeanne Newhall cd. ss1 might be able to provide some advice. Quote
BruceH Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Whatever works for you Moose, just don't tell Shreve! "---But you've also got him (James Brown) in the rock'n'roll, instead of the R'n'B. How could you DO that? I mean, you wouldn't put Charlie Parker in with the rock'n'roll, would you? Would you??" "I don't know...Who is Charlie Parker?" "JAZZ!! JAZZ! He was the greatest jazz saxophonist that ever lived---" Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 Organissimo is now next to the Offspring. Offspring?! Put us next to Outkast or something, please... but not The Offspring. They're horrible. I used to have my 2000+ CDs organized alphabetically. Right now they are still in boxes from our move into our new home back in August. Someday I'll have a space for them... I need to build shelves in the basement where my new office shall be... Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 14, 2004 Author Report Posted March 14, 2004 Sorry, dude; that's the alphabet for you! Outkast wouldn't help; that would be on the other side, and wouldn't even get between you and Greg Osby! Quote
couw Posted March 14, 2004 Report Posted March 14, 2004 my organissimo disk is still packed away at a certain rooster's nest, once it arrives it's gonna go right between Orbital and Palm Skin Productions. Howzat for some nice noisy neighbours! Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I've got half of my cds arranged alphabetically, and the other half are just shelved according to last date of purchase or last listening date. I keep my cds in boxes. I own only jazz cds; nothing else. Quote
SEK Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I've always arranged most of my recordings alphabetically by artist, independent of genre/marketing category. "Classical" is arranged by composer. Quote
RDK Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 My CDs are all arranged by artist, genre, and date of recording... except when they're not. In other words, they're scattered all over my home and office. Quote
Alexander Posted March 16, 2004 Report Posted March 16, 2004 I am SO anal about my CDs. I have everything meticulously shelved, alphabetized, etc. As soon as I get a new CD, I shelve it, which means I have to shift everything around. I just got a digital camera. Maybe I'll post some pictures. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Posted March 17, 2004 I'm thinking next time we'll go with predominate cover color. Sort of a rainbow thing... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 Right now they are still in boxes from our move into our new home back in August Handy for the taxman. Quote
wesbed Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 (edited) Right now they are still in boxes from our move into our new home back in August Handy for the taxman. Not nice. Not nice. Not nice. Edited March 17, 2004 by wesbed Quote
chris olivarez Posted March 17, 2004 Report Posted March 17, 2004 Mine are how should I say it - not organized. If I decided to take that task on I would handle it much like Jazzmoose. Damn Moose where did you find the time and could you imagine what it would be like if your collection was the size of Lon's for instance? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 17, 2004 Author Report Posted March 17, 2004 Right now they are still in boxes from our move into our new home back in August Handy for the taxman. Whoa...Chuck's back in midseason form! Quote
