Dan Gould Posted May 5, 2019 Report Posted May 5, 2019 OK maybe a little hyperbole but over the past year or maybe less I've acquired three he did for the Gemini label of Norway and just finished listening to Atle Hammer Sextet, Arizona Blue (with Jon Gordon in the front line) and its really quite good. That one has a discogs copy for $8.99, the others seemingly pretty rare are two with Red as co-leader, with tenor Kurt Riisnaes and all or most done at the brief time Red was signed to Concord. https://www.discogs.com/Atle-Hammer-Sextet-Arizona-Blue/release/8673209 https://www.discogs.com/Knut-Riisn%C3%A6s-Red-Holloway-Confessin-The-Blues/release/12017917 https://www.discogs.com/Knut-Riisn%C3%A6s-Red-Holloway-The-Gemini-Twins/release/12037289 These are all very enjoyable recordings very much worth it if found at a reasonable cost. Those in Europe will probably have an easier time finding them but anyone who loves Red and is in the States should jump all over that Arizona Blue listing, the $9 copy is from a US seller and its sealed.
