JSngry Posted April 11, 2019 Report Posted April 11, 2019 Calling Allen Lowe. This gets culturally complicated, in a good way. btw, this guy is not the first place I've heard this topic discussed....that would have been about 30 minutes ago in the latest New York magazine set of mini-articles about the evolution of the plagiarism esthetic in pop music. But I had never heard of the "Scotch Snap" before, and you know, the internet hates a (knowledge) vacuum, so...I think he presents well, but obviously (now, at least...) this is a known thing, both the rhythm itself and its increased use in rapping. JSngry Posted April 12, 2019 Author Report Posted April 12, 2019 Speech rhythms/patterns in music, interesting. Trans-cultural (continental!) pollinations even more so. Appropriations resulting in perhaps permanently blurred lines as a result of all that, hey, here we are. Quote
