WD45 Posted April 3, 2019 Report Posted April 3, 2019 it's another way for them to not reissue Tony Williams' "Life Time" LP Quote
stephenrr Posted April 9, 2019 Report Posted April 9, 2019 Pre-sale starts today...1000 spots available...$230 for six vinyl albums, access to social media Facebook site, access to three podcasts and..."some extra surprises along the way." Sounds expensive, elitist, and overly curated. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted April 9, 2019 Report Posted April 9, 2019 its like the "grubhub" of record collecting-- sit right back when special curated stuff is shipped right to your door. Quote

Sounds expensive, elitist, and overly curated. I agree - I thought they were just going to be releasing some LPs via Vinyl Me, Please, not creating some expensive faux social club. And what are the six albums? I don't buy records just because they're records. A wasted opportunity. Does anyone own the Vinyl Me, Please version of Fancy Free by Donald Byrd. I'll admit I've almost joined their club to get that record. Quote
WD45 Posted April 12, 2019 Report Posted April 12, 2019 It sold out, all 1,000 spots. I have a friend that signed up. VMP does a pretty nice job, good attention to detail and quality. The whole unknown factor about the remaining four titles is not the sort of gambling I'm interested in. Quote
Aftab Posted June 9, 2019 Author Report Posted June 9, 2019 Saw via Instagram that the next two albums in the set are Lou Donaldson - Natural Soul (soul jazz) and Wayne Shorter - Schizophrenia (post bop). The ‘fusion’ and ‘modern’ titles are tbd. Quote
