Hardbopjazz Posted March 27, 2019 Report Posted March 27, 2019 Anyone seen this before? Not that I am interested in this, but this looks so home made. Quote
Pim Posted March 27, 2019 Report Posted March 27, 2019 They are pretty awful. I used to own the ‘Swing Time’ and Bebop Years boxes. 100 cd’s filled with great music, very bad sound quality, a little sessoipnagraphy (partly wrong and incomplete). It’s public domain stuff. Gave mine away. Typical Membran shit product Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted March 27, 2019 Report Posted March 27, 2019 Membran - yes, but I wouldn't quite call it "shit". It's just utterly redundant to ANY even halfway serious listeners and/or collectors as the stuff is available in lots of forms of better packaging elsewhere. But it is nice as an introduction to total newbies (who will hopefuly upgrade before all too long) or for anyone who wants to save himself the trouble of burning CD-Rs for the car player (at the price they sold at Zweitausendeins for the price per CD wasn't more than that of a passably decent CD-R blank). I am surprised to see this mentioned here NOW. These boxes have been around for something like 10 years or even more. Quote
JSngry Posted March 27, 2019 Report Posted March 27, 2019 Membran...I have been getting a few of their classical sets, they seem to be mostly broadcasts of important artists/composers, looks/feels/sounds like semi-collated bootlegs more than anything P(D)irated. As such, yes, useful as an introduction. I got a Kirsten Flastadt box that was luscious fun. Think it was Membran, anyway. Quote
Pim Posted March 31, 2019 Report Posted March 31, 2019 I myself prefer streaming over buying these boxes as music introductions. The boxes aren’t very nice to look at and take quite a lot of space. Quote
sidewinder Posted March 31, 2019 Report Posted March 31, 2019 (edited) Once upon a time Zweitausendeins sold Mood Records and ‘Euro-Mosaics’ at a good price. Now they sell Membran. Sign of the times.. Edited March 31, 2019 by sidewinder Quote
