My son, in his death metal days, had a cd by Marduk, Panzer Division Marduk.

I'm familiar with Marduk, it's out there. Most of that stuff is not for me. Sacred Reich is more thrash and this is their first album release since 1996. I gave it a listen and they sound great.

I've always been a metal and hard rock guy and I know bands like Sacred Reich from back in the day. Since the 90s I've just been listening to the same things I always did, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament, etc., but a few years ago I was on a quest for new music and re-embraced metal, new metal. To me, this is a music that continued to move forward and the bands are grinding it out for the love of it. None of them will ever reach the status or financial success of shit like Post Malone, Lil Nas, Taylor Swift, et al, but they continue to write, play and tour. I'm in my 50s, so not the typical demographic but the riffs hit hard, hooked me and my quest for new music is over.

He listened to all of them but he also listened to some stuff that was really out there, Swedish death metal, etc. and, of course, he made me listen to it if we were out driving, as well as dragging me to a few concerts. Interesting experience but one that I’m glad I don’t have to repeat.
