Rabshakeh Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 Josh White – Complete Recorded Works 1929-1940 In Chronological Order Volume 3 (18 March 1935 To March 7 1940) This is a bit of a revelation to me. I had always associated with Josh White with polite versions of the blues for the early coastal revival audience. I hadn't realised he had a previous history as an urban-leaning country bluesman. As I've mentioned in the past, I have a particular thing for blues musicians who have softer lighter voices, and don't go for the bass falsetto. Quote

Hejira is just so moody and evocative; everything about it shines (voice, songs, production, Jaco, Larry Carlton); it was probably the peak of her career. Quote

Teasing the Korean Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 The Beach Boys Today (Capitol, mono) I get rid of "Bull Session with the Big Daddy" and start side 2 with "Guess I'm Dumb" by Glen Campbell. It is now a perfect album, by 1965 teen pop standards. Quote
