Incredible!!!  Bought the vinyl back in college and love the expanded CD.

It’s so good! The original seemed to quickly get overshadowed by Stop Making Sense. They’re both great albums, of course, but I’ve been in a real early TH mood lately, and Name is such a kinetic document of the band in those years. Have you ever read Jonathan Lethem’s 33 1/3 book about Fear Of Music?

Oooh, I have not - love the series but have not seen that one - thanks for the recommendation.

I know what you mean about the relationship between the two albums - not to dismiss "Stop ..." but greatly prefer Name ..."

My first exposure to the Heads was buying "Fear ..." on cassette when I was in high school.  Then bought "Remain ..." my freshman year and played it to death, still have that record (I am now 61).  I love the way those songs sound on "Name ..." as well as the side 1/2 earlier cuts.  Love both versions of "Drugs".

I think you’d dig the Lethem 33 1/3. He was 15 and living in Brooklyn when the album came out, and he filters the album through that view, but in a broad, non-self-indulgent way. His description of the opening of “Memories Can’t Wait” made me laugh out loud the other night, nailing it in a humorously surreal way.

I’ve apparently looped myself into the late 1970s/early 80s of late. Currently revisiting this excellent Clash anthology:

Beach Boys - Surf's Up (Reprise)

This is a custom mix where I reinstate the two deleted Dennis tunes and get rid of the two dreadful tunes my Mike and Bruce, respectively.

It was said that Tandyn Almer had a hand in writing the title song. Was that true?
