felser Posted February 26, 2023 Report Posted February 26, 2023 This is the unreleased 1981 album produced by Rodgers/Edwards. It sounds like a cross between Chic album and a good Al Jarreau album (Rodgers/Edwards/Thompson play all the songs, and Rodgers/Edwards wrote them all), and it's pretty great. Columbia buried it against Mathis's objections (he really liked it), and it was not rediscovered for a quarter century. Columbia released it as a RSD special in 2018, and Real Gone Music released it on CD in 2019. I have it in the giant Columbia Mathis box (which is a stunningly beautiful set). Would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Columbia released it in '81. Quote

There's also a companion EP of original songs called A Place of Greater Safety. I thought I had that too but can't find it now that I'm looking. Jeez. Edited February 27, 2023 by Aggie87 Quote
Matthew Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Joni Mitchell: Court and Spark. Such a great album and it stands the test of time. The Laurel Canyon Movement produced a lot of timeless music. Quote

Dub Modal Posted February 27, 2023 Report Posted February 27, 2023 Bowie time. What was the motivation/impetus behind the Moss Garden & Neukoln instrumentals? They seem to come out of nowhere. Quote
