Bluesnik Posted November 5, 2021 Report Posted November 5, 2021 I liked Bragg very much in the 80s (Levy's Tubbs tears, I think), but this must be much later. 4 hours ago, HutchFan said: Milton Nascimento & Lô Borges - Clube da Esquina (Odeon, 1972)  That one I got. From EMI, I think. But Brazilian label Odeon was always owned or distributed by EMI. 21 hours ago, felser said: Awesome uptown soul by Dionne's younger sister: Precisely the other day I read in a boxset devoted to him how Burt Bacharach discovered Dionne Warwick among her sisters. They were 3 IIRC. Quote

O.K. Thanks for the heads-up.   I'll seek it out. I'm only just beginning to dig a bit more deeply into Nascimento's music. Seems like it might be a VERY deep well.   Quote

I was lucky to see him live in Austin twice in the early 1990s. My favorites are Clube de Esquina, Anima, Milton (the one I depict above), Milagre dos Peixes, and Native Dancer Quote

felser Posted November 10, 2021 Report Posted November 10, 2021 They were awesome for a four year spell a half century ago. This Was/Stand Up/Benefit/Aqualung/Thick as a Brick/Living in the Past was a great run of album releases. Seriously diminishing returns throughout the rest of the 70's, and then it all fell apart at the end of that decade - yet they (he?) keep on keeping on anyways, because what can a poor boy do except to sing in a rock 'n' roll band?  Quote
