duaneiac
I've had a delightful time with this 3CD set: I previously only knew (and loved) Barbara Lewis from her two big hits, "Hello, Stranger" and "Baby, I'm Yours", so I was curious to see what some of the rest of her music sounded like. Some of the material included here has aged better than others, but there really is not a "dud" track in the lot. I love the sound of her voice and she was clearly a versatile performer, but that same versatility may have hampered her ability to form a core musical identity. This is a great track which shoulda been a bigger hit -- Even the most jaded of studio musicians must have had some fun playing that strings chart. Read it last summer. And Welcome is probably my favorite Santana record.

Dub Modal
From '77. I sense a good amount of Lee Perry Black Ark production inspiration on this one.

"King Kong" is awesome and Ian Underwood shines throughout the album.

Ian Underwood (and Don Preston) were on many of the film recording sessions I attended. Nice guys and crack studio musicians.
Rabshakeh
I love that King Kong. It was one of my entry routes into jazz. The whole record has a real special aura, at least on LP. The CD reissue was a real butcher’s job.
