ghost of miles Posted April 5 Report Posted April 5 This album, which came out just a little over a year ago, was a godsend for me. I’m a longtime fan of early Oasis (the first three albums and assorted b-sides, definitely the band’s “imperial phase,” as the saying goes) and the Stone Roses, so hearing Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and Roses guitarist John Squire together is a joy. A few bits and pieces recall earlier SW music, even a little earlier PT. It's pleasant enough, and better than the last one (Harmony Codex) IMO. I've probably spun it 5-6 times now since it came out, maybe it will grow on me more over time. I'm still more a PT fan than a SW fan, though I'll always give him credit for exploring and not sitting still. OK - Thanks! I really wanted to like this, but I listened to it a few times and was disappointed. Maybe I'll give it another shot. Quote
mikeweil Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 Listened through a selection of Steely Dan, from this box set, as I have an opportunity to play a gig or two with a Steely Dan cover band in October. Quote

mikeweil Posted April 7 Report Posted April 7 I'm not the drummer. I will be the percussionist. Playing Victor Feldman's conga licks on "Do It Again". Quote

BFrank Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM Report Posted yesterday at 05:18 AM Haven't listened to this in a long time. Ex-Beefheart musicians, with Sam Galpin on vocals (sort of a cross between Beefheart and Lowell George). Mallard released 2 albums in the mid-70s. Worth tracking down! Quote
