JSngry Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 Not an artist, perhaps, but is that Phil Schapp? Both of those other guys look very familiar, but not at this age. Quote

felser Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 what is a guess on the year of the photo, given that a youthful Phil Schaap has been identified? mid-70's? Quote
mjzee Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 This looks like it's from around the time Phil was booking acts at the West End Cafe (near Columbia U.). He used to often book The Countsmen (alumni of Count Basie's band), so that might be a clue. Could the man in the middle be Roy Eldridge? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 Not saying he is, but the guy on the left looks a like like a Heath brother, doesn't he? Or maybe a Heath cousin? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 It's Schaap, not Schapp. Quote
Michael Weiss Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 Walter Bishop, Jr., Roy Eldridge, Phill Schaap Quote
JSngry Posted January 24, 2019 Report Posted January 24, 2019 There ya' go. Don't think I'd have gotten Roy, my views of him (all photos) are either younger or, if older, more close-up. Same with Bishop, even more so. Doesn't look like any of his album covers, and that would be almost all I would know. Quote
