Sad news, both Vince Wilburn and Wallace Roney have reported on FB that Frances Davis, Miles' wife has passed.  RIP

Oh dear.  I saw her a couple of times when she was working at the Hamburger Hamlet in Hollywood. She was the hostess and was very pleasant.

Francis, as far as I know, is still doing fine and teaching jazz history at Temple University here in Philly. We email each other occasionally.  In case people aren't aware, he's married to Terry Gross, host of NPR's "Fresh Air".    Temple has a pretty amazing jazz faculty, including Eric Alexander, Tim Warfield, Terrell Stafford, Carla Cook, Tim Green, Byron Landham, Joe Magnerelli, Dick Oatts, and John Swana.
