romualdo Posted November 3, 2018 Report Posted November 3, 2018 (edited) Corbett Vs. Dempsey have released (CD) in their latest batch the ICP LP Groupcomposing (Mengelberg, Brotzmann, Parker, Rutherford, Bennink x2, Bailey - live 1970) http://www.corbettvsdempsey.com/2018/10/16/album-groupcomposing/ I'm wondering if it will be a "needle drop" as is the version in the ICP Box set. They plan to release more ICP material down the track - I presume these will be legit but what about the source material? Maybe I'll drop a line to John Corbett & see. king ubu Posted November 13, 2018 Report Posted November 13, 2018 They ought to re-do the great Nichols/Monk stuff - one of them, at least half an album (LP-side I guess) is almost unlistenable in the box, alas. Quote

romualdo Posted November 14, 2018 Author Report Posted November 14, 2018 (edited) ICP 25 was originally a cassette release then 6 out of the 8 titles were added/rereleased to the ICP 26 CD release. It was the ICP 25 disc that sounded atrocious (disc 29 in box set) I eventually managed to get a "corrected" replacement with much improved sound from ICP last May (2017) Edited November 14, 2018 by romualdo Quote

clifford_thornton Posted November 14, 2018 Report Posted November 14, 2018 I haven't had Groupcomposing on deck in many years. I was never as into that title as some other early ICP records, but could stand to drop the needle and reinvestigate. Quote
mjazzg Posted November 14, 2018 Report Posted November 14, 2018 I bought Groupcomposing recently, it's well worth your time CT, believe me. Give it an outing Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted November 14, 2018 Report Posted November 14, 2018 I have listened to disc 1 and it sounds dandy. Quote

mjazzg Posted June 4, 2019 Report Posted June 4, 2019 Tettertettet is a winner even if a pig to spell correctly. The trio is very tempting Quote

The trio is very tempting "Tetterettet" is an onomatopoeia for the sound of a trumpet. Which is somewhat funny, because no one's playing trumpet on this session. But it's a great record. Quote
Д.Д. Posted June 7, 2019 Report Posted June 7, 2019 Hmmm, all the ICP releases are gone from Spotify. That's a shame. On the positive side, ICP started positing their concert recordings on bandcamp: https://icporchestra.bandcamp.com/ . I assume the old releases will be posted there at some point too. Quote
