Larry Kart Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Does anyone know a good safe way to download YouTube sound onto ITunes? The one method I’ve found, flv.tv, is said to be a source of malware. And if you do know of a good safe way, could you walk me through it? Quote
JSngry Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Browse around here and find one that sounds good to/for you: https://www.cnet.com/ You can get some that do the audio conversion on the fly, but if you want the video, you can get stuff to download that, and then keep the video but convert to a separate audio file. As fo iTunes, can't help you there, don't use it with any regularity. Quote
Scott Dolan Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Haven't tried it in years, but the last time I did I Goggled "YouTube to mp3" and just used the first thing that popped up. Quote
JSngry Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 Larry's right, there are free apps that will bring malware. I use the cnet site to look at what's what. Don't know how that works for macs, though. Quote
medjuck Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 I use Audio Hijack. You do have to pay a bit for it but it seems worth it to me. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted October 24, 2018 Report Posted October 24, 2018 If you use Firefox, there are several add-ons for this. I've never heard of a Firefox add-on with malware but I may be wrong about that. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search/?platform=windows&q=you%20tube%20audio Quote

I'll try some of the above suggestions. Quote

Ken Dryden Posted October 28, 2018 Report Posted October 28, 2018 There is a program called youtube catcher which enables you to download both audio and video and listen offline at your leisure. Unfortunately the newer versions of this program are embedded with tons of nasty adware and unwanted b.s. Quote
sambrasa Posted October 29, 2018 Report Posted October 29, 2018 Safe but time consuming way would be recording it real time with audacity or some other recorder. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted October 29, 2018 Report Posted October 29, 2018 I have patched directly to my CD recorder from my computer or Mac, though the one issue is the possibility of an internet interruption during recording. It always seems to pop up when recording a one time live webcast. Quote
felser Posted October 30, 2018 Report Posted October 30, 2018 I've bounced around to differenty youtube converters with varying degrees of satisfaction. Currently have been using y2mate.com, which seems good and safe to me. They all try to get you to download additional software. Quote

ClipGrab lets you download videos from YouTube and has an audio-only option in the drop-down menu under "Format." I've found the app to work simply and well. Quote
Larry Kart Posted November 10, 2018 Author Report Posted November 10, 2018 Thanks, I'll give it a try. Quote
