GregK
Seems to be a straight reissue of everything Art Ensemble-related on ECM, including the recent Roscoe Mitchell and Jack DeJohnette Made in Chicago releases. Includes a 200 page booklet! There are still a few of these that I haven't gotten yet, and at around $110 or so on Amazon I might get this. https://jazzdesk.wordpress.com/2018/09/21/the-art-ensemble-of-chicago-in-a-box/ https://www.amazon.com/Art-Ensemble-Chicago-Associated-Ensembles/dp/B07HGBR8YJ/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1538704026&sr=1-1&keywords=art+ensemble+of+chicago
sidewinder
Wow - tempting ! I was pondering an LP copy of ‘Urban Bushmen’ at about a quarter the price of this set the other day. So, good bang for buck. Edited October 6, 2018 by sidewinder
mjazzg
That "and associated ensembles" is really pushing the envelope as wide as possible it would seem. Got most of it, possibly all, on the original discs or vinyl I think.
JSngry
It's a good per-disc price, but I think I have it all? Is there a list somewhere?
clifford_thornton
Cool cube. Lotta fantastic music.
felser
Tempting, but I have most if not all of the actual AEC CD's on ECM, and believe the "associated" titles would probably have diminishing returns for me, and need to draw the line somewhere. But very tempting at that price, and a further price drop could certainly do me in...
sidewinder
It’s tempting for me - as I only have the two Lester Bowie Brass Fantasy titles and these are on vinyl. Plus - the booklet. Likely only half of it in English but, even so.. Edited October 6, 2018 by sidewinder

Most of the time in the collectable Jazz pantheon you’re usually looking at $20+ per disc. This is an outstanding value. Hell, I may even spring for it. felser
I went ahead and pre-ordered it. I can cancel if I change my mind, and really, how far wrong can I go on it?

paul secor
For anyone who doesn't already have most or all of this (I do), it's a no-brainer. Edited October 7, 2018 by paul secor

sidewinder
I wonder if the booklet will be one of those ECM designer minimalist things with half a dozen words and a pic on each page, repeated for English/German. I’m optimistic though !
mjazzg
I only have one of the ECM whitebox reissue series of which this looks to be the very big brother. In that set the booklet has a 10.5 page essay, in English only, on Codona with 5 pages of photos and two of discographical info so I think your optimism may be well founded across 200 pages. What isn't included is the original cover art but as a Mosaic aficionado I'm sure that'll be OK with you...but drives me mad

I have one of those smaller whiteboxes, more than happy with it.

JSngry
Well hell, that's more coverage than I had expected. I have a lot of it on LP, and that importcd price is < $4/disc. I'd be a fool not to do that deal right now.
felser
The DeJohnette New Directions CD's seal the deal for me.
Steve Reynolds
Impossible to not get this even though I don’t like the way ECM made these guys sound on record. I always thought Urban Bushmen if it was recorded as the band must have sounded live would have been an all-time great record.
Д.Д.
Nice price, although none of the AEC ECM releases are that good, IMHO. As far as I am concerned, with AEC the earlier - the better.
king ubu
So 15 or 16 new Art Ensemble albums? Now *that* would be a feast!

Quite to the contrary I`m also fond of post ECM material .... fi "From The Ancient To The Future" (DIW) - saw the AEC with this program live in 1986 @ Vienna and they were on fire....
