Dan Gould Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 Seems like it has been forever since the Hank Mobley thing came out and I was beginning to wonder if they had more in the archives or what when I was suddenly hipped to this: https://www.jazzarchief.nl/product/dexter-gordon-in-the-cave/ 1963 Dex! No Kenny Drew which would be the icing on the cake for me but still ... New Dex!! Quote
erwbol Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 "Is considered by many, especially fellow musicians, one of his best European concerts." (Site seems to be only in Dutch?) Quote

JSngry Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 Spent the afternoon with it. A most worthy addition to any Dexter collection, imo. Dex sounds clean, animated, and as developmental with his riffing and quoting (he is, remember, the Ouotesmaster General of All Time) as I've heard him. The rhythm section could be a little punchier for my taste, but in the end, they do no harm. A very, very good record. Gordon blew! Quote
