You did mention Jack Millman (have the LP + Jazz Studio 4 & a CD California Jazz) but have bought recently another big band recording. Its noot listed in Lord's and I would like to get some Information of the band. Can you help? Thanks Willie Here are the pix: Quote
JamesAHarrod Posted January 17, 2020 Author Report Posted January 17, 2020 I have concluded my six part examination of The Haig. Here are links to the recent posts: The Haig - Part Six (1957) https://jazzwestcoastresearch.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-haig-part-six.html The Haig - Part Five (1956) https://jazzwestcoastresearch.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-haig-part-five.html The Haig - Part Four (1955) https://jazzwestcoastresearch.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-haig-part-four.html I extend my thanks to all who have followed this odyssey of the club that launched the careers of many jazz artists. The address deserves a plaque to commemorate its place in Los Angeles jazz history. Quote
ghost of miles Posted January 17, 2020 Report Posted January 17, 2020 Had a nice conversation with Ken Poston at Jazz Congress about your work. Much appreciation. Quote
Adam Posted January 18, 2020 Report Posted January 18, 2020 Thank you for all of this. Sorry for disappearing. I would be interested in the Tiffany ad. I don't have all the Saxophongraph LPs because I got many of the recordings on CDs from Jay; I'll check out more of the liners. Jack Millman - my mom and aunt were friends with him (and maybe his brother?). I have an LP autographed from him to my mom. I think they went to high school together. I'll try to post, and get more clarification from my aunt. 1950s Los Angeles jazz scene. My mom's first husband was a jazz musician Chuck Geisel, but he was too much of a druggie, I believe, and she left him. Quote
