wolff Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 Wolff, did you bid? I did not, although I would have loved to have picked up that Larry Young LP Mosaic set. The Larry Young, hmmmmm. Yes, I bid. I forget if $255 is an ok price to pay(I really need to keep a log), but too late now. I just wish I had some Young vinyl to sell off to pay for this set. Oh well, it's one of about 8 sets I really want. Still kicking myself for missing that Buy It Now Rivers set from a few weeks ago. The Live Basie went at a good price, I think. Quote
ajf67 Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 If I remember right, that sounds like a good price for the Young, considering the E-Bay mania for Mosaics. I didn't bid, but I sure wanted to. I've bought too much lately though. Quote
Eric Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 uhm, I think I will wait for the Conn (or go without): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWA:IT Quote
Dmitry Posted August 9, 2004 Report Posted August 9, 2004 The Live Basie went at a good price, I think. Indeed. $167.50 for a 12lp set is a very good price. Wish I saw that one... Quote
ajf67 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 (edited) I thought Saxophone Collossus would go for a lot, but I didn't know it was above $800! Edit: I couldn't get the link to work, but a W 50th pressing went for $820 Edited August 16, 2004 by ajf67 Quote
ajf67 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 (edited) I know it has always been high, but has it been in the stratosphere like this? Edited August 16, 2004 by ajf67 Quote
Dmitry Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I bet my Japanese Lp sounds just as good. Anyone buy these for investing? Quote
ajf67 Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Hell, even if it doesn't, I'm sure it's close enough! "Investing" in LPs is one of my best rationalizations... Quote
jazzhound Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 Sorry fellows but the Japanese sucks compared to the original. Better off with the two fer on the green label. OR the gold. Quote
Dmitry Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 (edited) "Investing" in LPs is one of my best rationalizations... That's what I tell my wife. It's going to take the kid through college in 16 years. Like I'm going to sell them. State school, baby! The Japanese Lp certainly doesn't suck. I haven't heard the originals, but this 200 gm. JVC it's plenty sufficient for this middle-class guy. Edited August 16, 2004 by Dmitry Quote
jazzhound Posted August 16, 2004 Report Posted August 16, 2004 I said it sucks compared to the original. come on, one root canal would cover it! Quote
ajf67 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 Sorry fellows but the Japanese sucks compared to the original. Better off with the two fer on the green label. OR the gold. Too bad. At current E-Bay prices I'll never hear it! Quote
ajf67 Posted August 17, 2004 Report Posted August 17, 2004 I said it sucks compared to the original. come on, one root canal would cover it! Hmmmm. Root canal vs. Rollins.... B-) Quote
wolff Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 Let's see what this goes for. Great seller BTW. Too bad I can't afford his product anymore. When Classic Records wants to hear what the original, mono Blue Notes sound like, they call this guy. Minor Move Quote
Z-Man Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 And that's not the only one... King Pressings Galore Quote

When Classic Records wants to hear what the original, mono Blue Notes sound like, they call this guy. Minor Move I've heard folks praise this guy, and I can certainly second that this seller is first rate. It's no wonder that his auctions go for high dollars. I won the Herbie Nichols Mosaic from him, and it was in perfect shape and so well packaged it could have been a shipment of fine glass. Quote
charlesp Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I have also purchased LPs from Ron @ Music Matters - prices are dear, but quality, Seller's professionalism & service are first class. Quote
Leeway Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 (edited) Where does the dude get all that good stuff? Regarding the Japanese import LPs, I have no idea what all that writing on the OBI says? Does anyone here know, for example, what the OBI on the Minor Move LP says? For all I know, it says, "pure digital master copy"! B-) Edited for the usual typo! Edited August 25, 2004 by Leeway Quote
wolff Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Man, he's killin' me. He's got a pile of Mosaic LP sets listed now!! This could take some will power. Quote
ajf67 Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 (edited) Holy Schmoley. Man that's tempting. As an aside, it always kills me when people bid up titles that are still in print. The Bitches Brew box is already up to about $70 I think. This guy's a good seller and all, but why not just buy a new one at Mosaic? I can see if you can get it for less, but I bet it won't go for less. Maybe I'll be wrong, but we'll see. Edited August 26, 2004 by ajf67 Quote

wolff Posted September 1, 2004 Report Posted September 1, 2004 (edited) The MOSAIC LP SETS keep rolling in. I think this is the most(including other sellers and recently completed) I've seen on Ebay at one time. I'll be into my November music budget if I get anymore. Edited September 1, 2004 by wolff Quote
