JSngry Posted March 30, 2018 Author Report Posted March 30, 2018 And Montreal gave him what Houston never could - a soda pop all his own. Do you believe in magic? ORANGE magic? Hoe can you not? C'est la vie, non? Quote
Brad Posted March 30, 2018 Report Posted March 30, 2018 A terrific player who will always be remembered by Mets fans for 1973 and was an incredible pinch hitter. Today on the Mets telecast, Keith Hernandez was saying that Rusty had 2800 hits (he actually had 2716) and could have gone to an AL team after the 1985 season to get his 3000 but Rusty wanted to stay in NY. He had many charitable causes but chief among them was the fund he set up for fallen officers in the line of duty. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted March 31, 2018 Report Posted March 31, 2018 He was an early Astros fan favorite for fans like me from Louisiana. I know I saw him at the Astrodome when it was very new. Crushed me when he was traded to Montreal! JSngry will remember just how BAD so many trades there were in those early days. Quote
Brad Posted March 31, 2018 Report Posted March 31, 2018 He was popular wherever he was. Just a great all around player. Quote
