One of my favorite saxophonists - I have quite a few of his own releases - some of the most exciting new jazz releases I know of. Ballister & the 2 drummer band are both very intense and exciting ensembles. Was glad to hear him live last summer when he visited NYC. Very friendly when I met him.

I got to see him at The Lilypad in Cambridge, Ma last December.  The Vandermark 5 was one of the premier bands of this generation, now Rempis is out there carving a bit of a reputation for himself.  His percussion ensemble recordings are something to behold.  Non-stop energy.  He's also in The Chicago Reed Quartet's Western Automatic and Keefe Jackson's Likely So ensembles.  I recommend all of them.

Excellent player, saw him not too long ago at the Blockhouse here in Bloomington performing with a friend of mine, percussionist Tyler Damon (who is moving to Chicago--well worth checking out if you haven't heard him already, Chicago-area posters).

I have a few of his older CDs (Triage on Okka, and something else), I think I even saw him live once (with Vandermark), and found him nothing special. But the tracks posted in the article sound really good. Will buy a couple of downloads. And it is great what he's doing in the music community, this is a lot of work, I guess.
