AllenLowe Posted December 25, 2017 Report Posted December 25, 2017 (edited) the one pic I have of us performing together, in Rhode Island, in the 1990s. Edited December 25, 2017 by AllenLowe Quote
B. Clugston Posted December 28, 2017 Report Posted December 28, 2017 RIP. Fabulous musician and a wonderful champion of Herbie Nichols. I was just reading this piece by Frances Davis about Roswell Rudd's Catskill days and it ended with this postscript: "The New York Art Quartet reunion never happened, and Rudd eventually lost his job at the Granit. The good news is that he’s been working with the tenor saxophonist Allen Low (sic)." Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 28, 2017 Author Report Posted December 28, 2017 although the reunion eventually did happen, however briefly... Quote
MomsMobley Posted December 28, 2017 Report Posted December 28, 2017 who else could do this not just 'well' but amazing, all credit sonic youth here also Quote
Justin V Posted January 2, 2018 Report Posted January 2, 2018 I haven't heard as much Roswell Rudd as I should have. Thank you for the music, Mr. Rudd, and rest in peace. Quote
Peter Posted January 26, 2018 Report Posted January 26, 2018 LOVE his music. Hope there's lots of unreleased stuff we can look forward to hearing in the future. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 26, 2018 Author Report Posted January 26, 2018 yeah, I would especially hope there's more from the first 20 years in the vaults... someone's vaults, anyway. Quote
mjazzg Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 Does anyone know Rudd's solo Horo 'The Definitive'? I'm thinking of tracking down a copy. Discogs suggests he plays several instruments, are they solo or multitracked? Any impressions received with interest and thanks Quote

Any impressions received with interest and thanks Rudd plays trombone, piano, bass, drums, percussion and sings on two tracks. Multitracked. Some tunes work better than others. If you really like him, it's a worthy purchase. Quote
mjazzg Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 Thanks Sonnymax. It doesn't come cheap so it's good to have this info. I do really like him and this feels like a missing jigsaw piece Quote

I remember the drumming being kind of clumsy, but there's not much of it. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted March 4, 2019 Author Report Posted March 4, 2019 It's a cool, fun, and weird record. Unique, just like Roswell Rudd. Quote
mjazzg Posted March 4, 2019 Report Posted March 4, 2019 Which is what I'd hoped. Offer made on a copy. Quote
