bluesoul Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) ‘Miles Davis & John Coltrane – The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6’ Out March 23 Available in 4CD boxset and digital configurations, Miles Davis & John Coltrane – The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6 brings together, for the first time in an authorized edition with state-of-the-art production, five mythic concert performances as heard by lucky audiences during the epochal Spring 1960 Jazz At The Philharmonic European Tour. Showcasing the musical chemistry shared by Miles and Trane, The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6 offers five of the best recorded shows from that pivotal 1960 tour (Coltrane’s last as sideman): two shows from Paris’s L’Olympia Theater on Monday, March 21; two shows from the next night at Stockholm’s Konserthuset; and one from Copenhagen’s Tivolis Koncertsal three days later, on March 24. Stefan Wood Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 So this replaces part of the Dragon records 4 cd box? Quote
Tom 1960 Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 I have to wonder how much of this will be on the upcoming Bootleg Vol. 6. I don't have any of the Olympia material currently. Quote
Guy Berger Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 I have most, not all of this, so I'll pick it up. Classic music. Quote

Mark Stryker Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) If we don't all buy all the same music again that we've already bought multiple times in multiple formats, then the terrorists win. Edited December 9, 2017 by Mark Stryker Quote

LOL. I have all the recordings and find the French material to be superior. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 I meant the Paris concerts - the band, especially Coltrane, is on fire. Quote
erwbol Posted December 9, 2017 Report Posted December 9, 2017 The March 1960 Paris concert with Coltrane is earth-shattering. Wow! I will gladly buy this music one last time as a Bootleg Series release. Track list on Amazon UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Final-Tour-Bootleg-Vol/dp/B077ZCTV18/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512865695&sr=8-1&keywords=miles+davis+bootleg+series+6 Quote
king ubu Posted December 10, 2017 Report Posted December 10, 2017 Yeah .... will buy, too - if only just for Copenhagen. Still think they should have gone for the *other* half of the tour that has not yet been (semi-)officially documented. Lamest in the series, but then the Lost Quintet set was already somewhat flawed. JSngry Posted December 10, 2017 Report Posted December 10, 2017 The trees were the way to go. But if you got them, you're obligated to get the legit release. That was the code then, that's the code now. Quote
Late Posted December 10, 2017 Report Posted December 10, 2017 I've had the Stockholm recordings for more than 20 years, but I've actually never heard the Olympia stuff, so I'm definitely in. Quote

brownie Posted December 11, 2017 Report Posted December 11, 2017 I purchased all previously releases so far but I'll passes this vol. 6. Got everything that seems to be in that box. Wish Sony Columbia had included the Concertgebouw appearance to make it worth while for me...Or some other rare concert. Quote

Also Düsseldorf (the one sans Miles, fake live). Scheveningen (much better than A'dam) and some other sets only on bootlegs would have been more inspired choices, at least than Stockholm (Paris is so hot, I see why it *has* to be included) Quote
