JohnS Posted May 15, 2004 Report Posted May 15, 2004 Tal Farlow, George Russell are both fine with me. Quote
mikeweil Posted May 15, 2004 Author Report Posted May 15, 2004 As I said, I'd go for the George Russell any time! Quote
JohnS Posted May 16, 2004 Report Posted May 16, 2004 An afterthought, as Tal Farlow has been relatively badly served by reissue programmes maybe he'll make a better candidate after the Mosaic box is released Quote
couw Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 so who's up for this week? don't tell me you forgot to tap a shoulder garth.... Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 If no one wants to do it, I can quickly do one. Quote
ejp626 Posted June 1, 2004 Report Posted June 1, 2004 I should be somewhere in the queue, but I can wait another week. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted June 2, 2004 Report Posted June 2, 2004 Well if no one is doing one, I will select Count Basie- Sing along with Basie. Quote
ejp626 Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Ok, it looks like I am going ahead for next week (June 14-19?). My selection will be Booker Ervin The Space Book. Eric Quote
ejp626 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 By the way, anyone interested in doing the following one, please let me know. Thanks. Eric Quote
couw Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 (edited) By the way, anyone interested in doing the following one, please let me know. Thanks. Eric ejp, you're supposed to tap a shoulder. Just send some kind fellow boardmember a nice PM and ask her/him to step up on the AotW stage. of course if anyone wants to step up, that's okay too, but usually the volunteers need a little prod. FWIW: I'm out as my time is scarce enough without calling an AotW, but catesta seems a bit bored off late and it's almost a year since he did the honours.... Edited June 9, 2004 by couw Quote
marcoliv Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 i could suggest one too if no one is interested.... Quote
BruceH Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 (edited) Jazz of Two Cities---Warne Marsh This album is great. Better sound than I expected for some reason, and the playing is high-calliber. Admittedly, not really an "album" per se, but a double-disc compilation of various sessions, still....... Edited June 17, 2004 by BruceH Quote
mikeweil Posted July 8, 2004 Author Report Posted July 8, 2004 I'm ready to pick one, so feel free to tap my shoulder. Quote
Leeway Posted July 8, 2004 Report Posted July 8, 2004 I'm ready to pick one, so feel free to tap my shoulder. Some suggestions: Art Pepper- "Straight Life"- would be a good one Chet Baker- "Chet Baker Big Band" (with Bud Shank, Bobby Timmons, Phil Urso, Conte Candoli, et al Clifford Brown- "Clifford Brown with Strings" Quote

Adam Posted July 10, 2004 Report Posted July 10, 2004 In a couple of weeks, someone please tap me so that I can pick Horace Tapscott - The Dark Tree - vol. 1 & 2 on Hat Art, and a 3rd version of Hat's Kimus #4 sampler. That'll give any of you missing it an opportunity to obtain this great album (taht has a crown in Penguin). Quote
mikeweil Posted July 11, 2004 Author Report Posted July 11, 2004 I'm ready to pick one, so feel free to tap my shoulder. toc, toc, toc (your head -and not your shoulder- is being tapped) uhm ... that means I have to start a thread and .... I'm still a newbie to this forum - seriously! How much advance time? I have the impression the procedure is not working as smoothly as it should, and the list couw thankfully maintains is not quite up to date ... anyway, my pick would be the newly reissued Johnny Griffin Argo from the Verve LPR series. couw Posted July 11, 2004 Report Posted July 11, 2004 I have the impression the procedure is not working as smoothly as it should, and the list couw thankfully maintains is not quite up to date ... I got as sloppy as the shoulder-tappers... -_- Quote

Guy Berger Posted July 12, 2004 Report Posted July 12, 2004 I'd be up for doing an AOtW whenever a spot opens up... Guy Quote
