Can't say that the one w/strings sounds all that appealing........but what's the other one all about? More of the same?..or a trio?

The other one is solo piano.

I picked them both up but was annoyed to discover that:

A. They were SACD discs

B. Our new DVD/CD/CDR changer won't play them, and the other CD player is packed up for the big move. And now, in fact, the CDs are packed up, too, so a month later and I can't report on either one.

However, I can report that the cover for the solo CD is quite nice:

So are all of the newer Venus issues SACDs or hybrids? Does the same go for some of those previous Wilens?? and I wonder if Tanno will post the differences on his page?

From the Venus sight I find that the SACDs are all issued a TKGV-X number.

I don't know if they are all hybrids or not. I picked up the Higgins releases at one of his concerts, he contributed a deskfull of CDs as a fund raiser for the jazz society and it didn't occur to me to even look. Of course, I do expect that it will play right on my regular CD changer, which is fortunately now going to be used in the new media room. And I guess $20 is pretty good, since Cadence sells Venus for the same price and I'd have to pay for shipping.

From the site it seems that the "G" in TKGV is the SACD and the "C" in TKCV is just "Hyper Magnum Sound". (Which I thought was reserved for Schifrin's 'Dirty Harry' OST) B)
