Tagging along on wife's conference in Manhattan.  Any hidden gems this coming weekend: Friday Nov 3 or Saturday Nov 4?

Have you taken a look at the New York City Jazz Record?  It lists most of the jazz performances happening in the city.  You can view the November edition here.  Scroll down to page 34 for the 11/03 and 11/04 listings.

I did a quick scan.  These shows caught my eye . . .

FRIDAY
- George Coleman at Jazz Standard
- Chris Lightcap's SuperBigmouth (with Tony Malaby, Chris Cheek, Craig Taborn) at Roulette

SATURDAY
- Nicole Mitchell, Taylor Ho Bynum, et al at The Stone
- Sheila Jordan & Steve Kuhn at Iridium 

 

The amount of amazing music that's happening on any given night in NYC is just sick.  I'm going to be there for a long weekend in February. I'm already looking forward to it.

George Coleman at the Jazz Standard. I will be there for three of the four nights.

With Harold Mabern on piano. This is differently work checking out.

Thanks for the input...In for second show of George Coleman Friday night.  Checked out the other options...between Fred Hersch Trio at the Vangard and Coleman.  Happy to see a couple living legends.

 

Both the Saturday shows look amazing, but I think Saturday's given over to Broadway.  But you're entirely right about the abundance of current options.
