Hardbopjazz Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 Suprised to see that with 30 minutes left this only 100 dollars on ebay. Maybe it's because all these sessions can be bought today. Nothing is OOP. Quote
wesbed Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 I'm kinda thinking some of the eBay/Mosaic high-priced sales are a thing of the past. People seem to know, these days, that a lot of Mosaic OOP sets can be regulary found on eBay. Why pay the higher price today when you can probably find the same set at a lower price next week? You know? Quote
undergroundagent Posted March 5, 2004 Report Posted March 5, 2004 One of the casualties of this trend you'd think would be the Andrew Hill set. The majority of these sessions have been reissued in some form at one time or another, have they not? Quote
Stefan Wood Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 Sure, they have been reissued (except for a couple of sessions in the box set), but even those reissues have been OOP for some time now. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted March 6, 2004 Report Posted March 6, 2004 I'm kinda thinking some of the eBay/Mosaic high-priced sales are a thing of the past. That would have bothered me back when I first started buying Mosaics, but now that I know they aren't going anywhere anyway, I don't mind. For a while there, the Lee Morgan was getting high enough that I was actually tempted to sell. Fortunately, I just couldn't pull the trigger... Quote
ASNL77 Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 (edited) Could somebody tell me which albums are on the Complete Green...Clark set? Are they all available? I have tried to buy this Mosaic set on ebay but it is one of those sets that always go for ridiculous prices. Thanks. Edited July 17, 2005 by ASNL77 Quote

marcello Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 This is a great recording; full of soulful spirit. But the highlited track below, is just so unbelievable deep, it's scary! The real thing. (and have those been issued as single cd's?) ← Because the 1961 session is split over the two discs on the Complete Quartets release, you only miss one disk, Born to be Blue, which features the tracks with Ike Quebec. The two tunes with Patato are limited to the Mosaic set only. Quote

I can't believe that some people are prepared to spend $350 for the Mosaic set on ebay then! (There is one on ebay on $317 with three days to go!) What is wrong with these people? There must be some Mosaic fetichists out there! Maybe some of the black boxes are made of leather! Edited July 17, 2005 by ASNL77 Quote
tranemonk Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 (edited) thanks couw.... Just looking on CDuniverse - they've got Born to be Blue for less than $10..... guess I'll just have to save that $ I was gonna spend on e-bay on the stuff that's really not in print.... Chuck Nessa Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 The two tunes with Patato are limited to the Mosaic set only. ← Those tracks were added to the Latin Bit cd, so you can buy everything. Quote
take5 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I used to own the 2 CD "complete" Grant Green w/ Sonny Clark set which has most of the tracks on the Mosaic, but I got the Mosais off ebay anyway and sold the 2 CD set. The Mosaic does sound significantly better- less harsh, smoother, a much more pleasant listen. And yes I love the packaging. But I didn't pay $350 for it. Quote
sidewinder Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Further elaboration - the vinyl sounds particularly good. Quote
Jim R Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Those tracks were added to the Latin Bit cd, so you can buy everything. ← To make matters even better, I think THE LATIN BIT is one of Grant's best (and most underrated) sessions. Quote
J.A.W. Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Huh. . . . . that's interesting. . . . ← Everything OK, Lon? Quote
jazzbo Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Just fine! Just having some fun! I don't think as highly of "The Latin Bit" as Jim does, but I was only jesting to say that he's "crazy, crazy, crazy!" Quote
Jim R Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 One of the main reasons it's underrated is that "bigmouth" here has always preferred Feelin' The Spirit. Quote
