Larry Kart Posted September 21, 2017 Report Posted September 21, 2017 John posted this the other day on Facebook: "www.goodbaitbooks.com is going to vanish in 4 days. This may be your last chance to read the essay on the state of jazz in the 21st century. And the part of my autobiography that tells about my trip to heaven. And "The Buddy Bolden Case" and the essays about Herbie Nichols, Lester Bowie, Bernie McGann, and the Henry Threadgill review." Some terrific writing here. Quote
paul secor Posted September 21, 2017 Report Posted September 21, 2017 (edited) I'll definitely have to scan the Lester Bowie and Herbie Nichols essays, plus "The Buddy Bolden Case". The Bowie essay is the best thing I've ever read on Mr. Bowie's music. Anyone interested should check some or all of this out before it disappears. And thanks to Larry for the heads up. Big Beat Steve Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 Thanks for the reminder. Have done what's necessary to preserve this for me. "Distinguished female jazz scholar Charlotte Bronte" .... hee hee! Quote
Hot Ptah Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 Thanks. I just printed off the contents of the site onto paper. Quote
JSngry Posted September 22, 2017 Report Posted September 22, 2017 I highly recommend both of the novels. It takes a lot to get me to finish a novel these days, and both of these had that thing. One, I literally read from cover to cover. at one extended sitting. Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted September 24, 2017 Report Posted September 24, 2017 Do we know why the site went down (or had to go down)? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted September 24, 2017 Report Posted September 24, 2017 yes, thankfully it's all still available on archive.org even if the original site is gone. Quote
JSngry Posted September 28, 2017 Report Posted September 28, 2017 Are there backstock of those novels? Seriously, I had more fun reading them than anything I had read in a looooong time! Quote
