John posted this the other day on Facebook:

"www.goodbaitbooks.com is going to vanish in 4 days. This may be your last chance to read the essay on the state of jazz in the 21st century. And the part of my autobiography that tells about my trip to heaven. And "The Buddy Bolden Case" and the essays about Herbie Nichols, Lester Bowie, Bernie McGann, and the Henry Threadgill review."

Some terrific writing here.

I'll definitely have to scan the Lester Bowie and Herbie Nichols essays, plus "The Buddy Bolden Case".  The Bowie essay is the best thing I've ever read on Mr. Bowie's music.

Anyone interested should check some or all of this out before it disappears.

And thanks to Larry for the heads up.

I highly recommend both of the novels. It takes a lot to get me to finish a novel these days, and both of these had that thing. One, I literally read from cover to cover. at one extended sitting.
