Well, with the  accent in the e, it's indeed and actually "Roe-Shay"

WFIU colleague is putting together a Lou-Rawls-in-the-60s show and just asked me how to pronounce Onzy Matthews' first name.  I've always said "ON-zee," but is that correct?

That how the people who worked with him when he was around here said it. "AHN-zee", same as you have it, depending on how you pronounce "on".
