Milestones Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 Happy birthday, indeed! Mr. DeJohnette has played with EVERYBODY, and he's produced an awful lot of great sets as leader and co-leader. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 11, 2017 Report Posted August 11, 2017 Wow. Was just talking with Alvin Fielder about Jack. Alvin recalls playing in Jack's piano trio in Chicago in the 1960s. Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 12, 2017 Report Posted August 12, 2017 Happy birthday to one of my all time favorites. "Hudson" is killer. I was talking with Antonio Sanchez the other day, once years ago he went to Jack's house for a night and they had a jam with Jack on acoustic bass! He said he did his best Charlie Haden impression. mjzee Posted August 13, 2017 Report Posted August 13, 2017 Hard to believe he's 75. He seems perpetually young. Happy birthday! Quote
CJ Shearn Posted August 14, 2017 Report Posted August 14, 2017 In September, he'll be on an album of microtonal jazz with Phillipp Gerschlauer on alto, Dave Fiuczynski on guitar and Matt Garrison. It's really a trip, to my knowledge it's the first fully microtonal album Jack's participated in. On RareNoise. Quote
Lazaro Vega Posted September 8, 2017 Author Report Posted September 8, 2017 I just requested that one. Going to play it on the radio! Quote
