The meteor hit 50,000 years ago, at an impact of 29,000 miles per hour. Almost 4,000 ft in diameter, and 560 ft deep. (I learned this at the adjoining museum lol). The Apollo Astronauts trained here from 1962-1970, for the moon missions.
