Just found out that it's Emily Jones' birthday today!

Away from the Rangers 4-5 years, coming bach this year and her and Mike Maddox are the ONLY familiar faces on the TV. And Maddox has been gone for a while.

So Happy Birthday, Emily! Stay alert!

I got to see Eric Dolphy's saxophone at the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix yesterday.  It's a Selmer Super Balanced Action alto, he played this one throughout his entire career.

Oh man, Dolphy ! My first alto I heard as a kid. Damn, I heard and fell in love with Dolphy before I had heard a note of Bird !!!

Eric Dolphy's flute was given to John Coltrane by Dolphy's parents after his death in 1964. I wonder if Ravi Coltrane owns it or where it is now.

And honestly, lacking a real time perspective, it's hard for me to see what the real fuss was about. We'd go on yyo hear much more impactful performances. 

But there was a fuss, obviously. People couldn't know that.
