March 27, 1948 Billie Holiday walks out onto stage for her first headline show at Carnegie Hall!  She would sing 32 songs to a completely sold out house. Chairs had to be placed on stage to accommodate additional ticket sales. Soon this would be against New York City fire laws.  William Gottlieb Photographer.  This picture sold for approximately $1,250 in 2011

He charged you $6 for a blank cassette in 1978?  Couldn't you buy a two-pack Maxell for about $4 then?

One thing to add about recording at Rudy's - Before the session he asks about he instrumentation, set-ups and anything else you can provide. When you walk in the door everything is set up - unpack and play. It has been the most efficient operation I have experienced. That saved about an hour and a half of billed time.

They don't exactly look alike, but they look similar enough so that every night the TV news has me hoping that I'm going to all of a sudden hear Billy Harper or Johnny coles.

Yep. Amazing to me.

A lot of the drop seems to have come in the last 2 years. This from FT.com (30th October):

"[GE] is forecasting it will require $3bn to pump into GE Capital next year. To understand how much the division used to prop up the entire GE enterprise, two years ago it paid its parent company $16bn in dividends."
