brownie Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Coca Cola is selling plain tap water in its new brand of bottled water in Britain. The designer bottle sells for 95 pence for the same water that is available at 0.0316 pence for the same quantity. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...le_040302172207 Quote
tjobbe Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 in the office this was one of the greatest laughs today Cheers, Tjobbe BTW: the water in UK was never quite my taste, always had lite taste of mint... Quote
tonym Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 The taste of tap water varies widely throughout the UK, depending upon whether you live in rural or urban area, the quantities of naturally occuring minerals and compounds. I am sure this must be the same in the US. BTW. I don't drink tap water that hasn't been filtered. Quote
Claude Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I've heard that the most brilliant thing Coke and Pepsi ever did was not only to sell 6 cents worth of sugar and brown stuff in water for a dollar a bottle, but that they eventually did away with the sugar and brown stuff and charged the same price for a bottle. http://www.davidgalbraith.org/cgi-bin/mt-c...gi?entry_id=612 Quote
BERIGAN Posted March 4, 2004 Report Posted March 4, 2004 Yeah, been selling it for a few years in the States...and you know that sad truth??? It is the best bottled water! Must be the sugar! Quote

BERIGAN Posted March 19, 2004 Report Posted March 19, 2004 Hmmm, I don't think the water is carbonated (Perhaps the consumer affairs Editor should get out more) but that's some funky river water it appears.... This is LONDON 19/03/04 - News and city section Coke water in cancer scare By Jonathan Prynn, Consumer Affairs Editor, Evening Standard Coca-Cola today recalled every bottle of its controversial "pure" mineral water Dasani in a cancer scare. It came after the 95p bottles of water were found to be contaminated with illegal levels of bromate, a potentially cancer causing chemical. Coca-Cola said all 500,000 bottles of the carbonated water, which is drawn from public water supplies in Sidcup, will be cleared from stores within 24 hours. The scare also raises disturbing questions about the quality of Thames Water's household supplies in the Sidcup area. The announcement is a huge blow to Coca-Cola's bid to establish Dasani as one of Britain's leading mineral water brands following its £7 million launch last month. The Food Standards Agency said the withdrawal was "a sensible measure as bromate is a chemical that could cause an increased cancer risk". Coca-Cola said there was "no immediate health or safety issue http://www.thisislondon.com/til/jsp/module...?itemId=9740821 Quote
