J.A.W. Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 (edited) Has anyone ever heard this Revelation album? Opinion? It was recorded in 1982, with Carmell Jones - trumpet, Roland Burns - alto saxophone, Frank Sullivan - piano, Scott Walton - bass, Billy Bowker - drums. The tunes were: Stella By Starlight / What's New / Now's The Time / Billy's Bounce / Pent Up House. I'm also interested to hear opinions on Frank Strazzeri's 1969 Revelation album That's Him and This Is New (Revelation 10). Edited March 3, 2004 by J.A.W. Quote
Dan Gould Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Hans, Courtesy of Carmell Jones completist PD, I have his 1982 recording. In fact, Billie's Bounce was used on my Blindfold Test. Its a nice album, the Gainesville, FL bandmates acquit themselves very well even though they're just a "local band" in an area where country music dominates. Didn't know Strazzeri had an LP, I do like his previously unreleased session that came out in the Carmell Select. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 I had both of these on vinyl but my memory is faint. Dan, Strazzeri has had almost 20 lps/cds under his own name. Very interesting player. Quote
Larry Kart Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 A Strazzeri trio album that really caught my ear is "Kat Dancin'" (Discovery) from 1985, probably only on LP. Also worth tracking down his Cadence interview -- he's a deep, soulful guy; his close-up view of the Frank Rosolino tragedy/disaster is especially moving. Quote
