Patrick
Another gem from Cookie Carrasco -- 97 pitch complete game 3 hitter, facing just one over minimum. Tribe has nearly reeled in LAD in terms of run differential. Something inconceivable a few weeks ago. And next up is the Klubot. Go Tribe! Couldn't have been easy. During the Yankee broadcast today, they played an interview with Susan Waldman, one of the radio announcers. She related how, in 1992, Bernie Williams, in his second year with the Yankees made a play that helped to cost the Yankees a game. Steinbrenner called Gene Michael and said - I want that guy off my team. Trade him. Two weeks later, Steinbrenner called Michael and said - He's still on the team. What's going on? Michael's reply was - I called every team in both leagues, and nobody wants him. No doubt a lie, but it turned out to be a smart move by Michael. I've also heard a story that Steinbrenner wanted to trade Mariano Rivera when he was a rookie, and Michael talked him out of that one. ghost of miles
The conventional wisdom is that Gene Michael laid the foundation for the 1996-2001 dynasty during Steinbrenner's years of suspension in the early 1990s, and in this case I think the CW is pretty much on the money. I'd never heard that Bernie Williams story before, but it sure fits into the narrative.

Brad
Dodgers are in the middle of a horrible streak. They must think they're in the Twilight Zone or something. Probably a little league could beat them right now.

Patrick
This time a 3-hitter until two outs in ninth, end up w a 4-hit shutout. Nothing too flashy. Back of rotation guy Clevinger getting it done against O's. Josh Tomlin tomorrow. Still missing Kipnis, Brantley, and Miller. Go Tribe! Patrick
Even trailed for a few innings this afternoon. But Francona got 4 great innings from bullpen and Lindor went deep to provide 2 run cushion.
