Kenny Barron in FINE form, Washingtons Peter & Kenny have a good swing for Lee, and Lee himself is Lee Of Today, obviously old, obviously cranky, and just as obviously playing in that flow of his (and scatting like a Konitizian Louis Armstrong, some might recoil, not me, I mean c'mon Lee Konitz SINGS, warble and all, can't be all THAT cranky!). It's beautiful humanity, fine music, and probably available for a limited time, this being 2017 and all.

Gotta love Lee Konitz unless you don't, but if you do, here is the love.

Ya it should be a good place, I'll have to go back! I was wondering if it was regular radio at jazz hours (7 to 8) or webradio. But there is another grocery shop nearby were one of the cashiers plays great hip hop and discusses about Pharoah Sanders!

Lee's scats EXACTLY like he plays. His second chorus starting around 4:50 is exceptional  -- melodic invention elevates and his eighth notes lock into the beat a little more so the swing goes up a notch too. He was 88 when this was recorded. I hope I'm this feisty at that age.

This is a pretty good Konitz disc. There's no sense of him running out of puff.  I recall a recent Konitz release where he really did sound tired but here that's not the case. If you love Lee well worth it. Beginners look elsewhere.
