Naturally I dug it out after spotting a recent posting. It has an especially lovely version of Laura.

That's one of the good things about this place. You can get reminders of recordings you've ignored for a while.

I have a book of his photographs, so I'll check tomorrow and see if there's some information in it. I couldn't find that image in the Withers book, but there are other photos, evidently from the same show - the WDIA Revue - which picture Ray Charles, Rufus Thomas, Elvis, Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, and Howlin' Wolf. The woman pictured was evidently an employee of radio station WDIA.

HutchFan
Disc 2  Up next:  EDIT: The Gifted Ones is such a great record! And nobody talks about it. Why??? This is a subtle masterpiece of blues and swing, people! Neglect it at your peril!!!   Edited March 2, 2019 by HutchFan

Justin V
Rex, Wrecks and XXX, Disc 1: I bought this after a Shipp/Bisio duo gig a few years ago. I finally have it on my Google Play library to explore more. I don't usually listen to free jazz close before bedtime, but this is ending the night well.
