HutchFan Posted February 5, 2019 Report Posted February 5, 2019 (edited) Second listen today: Having just re-watched 2001: A Space Odyssey recently, there's something about this music that reminds me of the "Dawn of Man" section of that movie. Both share a similarly strange, otherworldly but still-somehow-familiar quality. Dr. Freud's Das Unheimliche! Edited February 5, 2019 by HutchFan Quote

jeffcrom Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 Ornette! - programmed as originally issued from the Atlantic box set. Bill Evans - The Paris Concert, Edition One (BN). I admire this, but I'm not loving it tonight. Quote
paul secor Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 Listened to this for the first time today. It's a very good one and I hope that others will check it out. Quote

It's a very good one and I hope that others will check it out. Thank you, Paul. I generally don't promote my own music here, but I'm proud of this one - it's the best thing I've ever done. Four duets each with percussionist Stuart Gerber (Stockhausen collaborator), Atlanta pianist Chris Case, and San Diego-based trombonist Peter Sloan. Cover design by Grammy winner Susan Archie. Some ballads, but in the avant-garde camp for sure. Available on Bandcamp and CDBaby now, all over the place soon. PM me if interested. Oh, and the first issued recording of Steve Lacy's saxophone / trombone duet "Dues." Edited February 6, 2019 by jeffcrom Quote
paul secor Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 After listening to Jeff's new CD, I felt the urge to listen to another Atlanta native. I've always liked the cover photos on this one - taken by our own brownie (the member, not the camera) - though this CD issue only includes one of them. I had to take the LP off the shelf to see the other, and I did that. Quote

JohnS Posted February 6, 2019 Report Posted February 6, 2019 I've been intending to play this masterpiece for ages. I heard a track on the radio bcck in the day - bought the album the very next day. Quote
