I like it. The music is excellent. One could have hoped for a little better sound perhaps, but it's acceptably OK.

Thnx for the feedback ....

Swing Time

Listeners today owe a debt of thanks to Prestige for recording swing era musicians in the late 50's - early 60's. If not for those recordings, much would have been lost.

So true!

And labels like Black & Blue, Chiaroscuro, Sackville, Master Jazz and others carried on this important work into the 70s.

My listening this morning -- a double-shot of Buddy Tate -- is case in point. :)

There's so much fascinating music here.  Surely there must be enough decent stuff for another compilation.

A good reminder .... worth the ticket of entry for the three ballad tracks with Ike Quebec + Duke Pearson + Israel Crosby + Vernell Founier .... btw two more tracks still missing (aka "I Remember April" + Midnight Sun" ) ....

Disc 1 of 2.  On the first Word Jazz album, the drummer was credited as "Forest Horn".  Three guesses who that was!

It had been a long time since I'd listened to these funny & moving stories told by one of my idols.
