duaneiac Posted March 17, 2017 Report Posted March 17, 2017 An appropriate St. Patty's Day album from an Irish lassie. It even concludes with "Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral". She was backed by Nat Pierce, Jake Hanna, Monty Budwig, Scott Hamilton and Cal Collins on this 1978 album. Quote
JSngry Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 These are my favorite Mothers by a mile, not even trying to be a "rock band", instead, a "contemporary classical" composed/improvisational absurdist chamber ensemble. Quote

What has she been up to? Now playing: Edited March 17, 2017 by duaneiac Quote

Well, I did say "almost". Hey, he's not Mose Allison, but I enjoy a few of Ben's albums including this one. Good tunes and great players. Quote

What has she been up to? A lot! I only mention her outstanding "Poems for Piano. Piano Music of Marion Brown". (Sweet Earth Records SER1005), her trio recordings and her collaboration with Archie Shepp, for example "Live in Souillac" in Archie Shepp, Gemini (Archie Ball Arch 0701). And: She was my special guest during our Jazz Festival in 2008! Quote
JSngry Posted March 17, 2017 Author Report Posted March 17, 2017 I like the way she sings the opening line to "This Is Always". Sets up a follow-through rather than being the conclusion. Quote
