Miles Davis, "Circle in the Round" Sony DSD remastered LP facsimile 2 cd set.

Great collection of material. I have the US 2 LP set but listen to this Sony 2 cd set more often. It is a lovely reproduction of the original release.

Dave Alexander, The Rattler (Arhoolie)

Listened to this right after Otis Spann, This is The Blues and ... its not even close. Alexander was a monster!

<ducks for cover>

I'm not throwing anything. I just disagree.

Disc 1 pf 2, shich contains broadcasts from Oct. 21 & 28, 1944 (by which time these weekly concerts were no longer being held at Town Hall, but at the Ritz Theater).  Baritone saxman Ernie Caceres has a clarinet feature on "Three Little Words" (with Pee Wee Russell standing right there, no less).

Ernie Caceres was a great, underrated clarinetist.

I love the Condon "Town Hall" series. I can kind of see why many critics didn't think much of it at the time, but all these years later, every recorded minute seems precious.

Same with the "This is Jazz" broadcast series.

Prime Pepper!  Great band too! :tup:tup:tup

The rhythm section is classy, especially George Mráz - who on other recordings fails to touch my heart - is a revelation ....
