JSngry Posted October 27, 2018 Author Report Posted October 27, 2018 Ok, here's real for you, a singing bass player bandleader playing for dancers and looking at them every step of the way, putting it where they are. The setting is bizarre, but the dynamic is real, this is what a country gig works like. Quote

JSngry Posted October 28, 2018 Author Report Posted October 28, 2018 When it came out, this was the only Bob James record most people had heard. This was the first cut and, you know, ok, tell me more, maybe. Who knew? Quote

jeffcrom Posted October 29, 2018 Report Posted October 29, 2018 Wadada Leo Smith / Louis Moholo-Moholo - Ancestors (TUM) Charlie Parker - Rara Avis (Stash). After listening to Bird for 45 years, I only recently realized how poor a handle I had on his 1952-54 broadcasts from the Hi-Hat in Boston - there are more of these than I realized. I'm going through my CDs along with Yardbird Suite, Lawrence Koch's guide to Bird's music, and Plosin's online Parker discography. It looks like I'm missing one complete broadcast. This CD has a nice Hi-Hat session with Herb Pomeroy on trumpet. Quote
